Rihanna’s fortune is now estimated at 1.4 billion euros, according to Forbes calculations, making her the richest singer in the world. The songwriter, actress, and director is second only to Oprah Winfrey as the richest female artist.
Despite being known worldwide for her folk tunes, most of Rihanna’s richness does not come from her music. The bulk of his fortune – around 1.2 billion euros – is linked to his cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty. The rest is only related to her lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, and what she earns as an actress and singer.
On social media alone, Rihanna has 101 million followers on Instagram and 102.5 million on Twitter. And on building a beauty brand, “She’s the most successful beauty entrepreneur,” Forbes presents.
Fenty Beauty – a 50-50 joint venture with French luxury goods group LVMH, run by Bernard Arnault, the world’s second-richest person – was launched in 2017 with its inclusion a top priority for the singer. The products include a wide range of colors – the base is presented in 50 shades, including dark shades that are difficult to find for women of color – and advertising is based on an equally diverse range.
Available online and in Sephora stores, also owned by LVMH, the products were an instant hit.
Although cosmetics sales have declined during the pandemic, beauty companies are now worth more than ever, says Forbes, noting that Fenty Beauty is worth €2.3 billion, with the potential to grow even more.
