The artist also transformed a British police box into an aquarium. He confirmed the authorship via social media, in an image that reveals that no authority figure can resist immortalizing the ephemeral work.
Two elephants, looking out of a window, were also painted in Chelsea, and later, three monkeys hung in a Brick Lane tube station.
In southeast London, now without a trace, there was a wolf on a satellite dish, then stolen by a group of masked men, and it appeared on social media and was witnessed by passersby.
“I don’t understand how he could do this.”
The artist also created two swans in an advert for a fast food restaurant in a north-east London neighbourhood that recently joined an anti-racism protest.
On Saturday, it was the turn of a cat lying on a destroyed poster, looking at it between inspiration and amazement.
“I was shocked,” said one resident. “I don’t understand how he could do this without anyone seeing it.”
Amid mockery, the work was removed by men, citing security concerns in removing the animal created by the artist known as Banksy, but whose true identity remains unknown.
