Cuiabá City Council has made significant advances in the health field, benefiting residents in many areas of the city. Out of 114 health units, including primary care, secondary care and specialized care, 82 have undergone investments and interventions to improve their physical structures.
In all, 10 new sanitary units have been built, and two more are under construction. These initiatives have contributed to the fact that 71.9% of health units in the municipality have been physically improved during the current municipal administration. It is important to note that all units that have been built, renovated and extended have been 100% air conditioned.
The improvements covered all areas of the municipality. In the North region, out of 24 units, 17 have undergone works or received investments for renovation. In the South region, 23 of 27 units have received improvements. In the eastern region, 21 out of 32 units have been invested, while in the western region, 16 out of 23 units have been contemplated. In the rural area, three of the six existing units have been contemplated with interventions in their structures.
The next businesses that were about to be turned over and reopened by the municipal administration are UBS Jardim Vitória II and III, UBS Santa Isabel I, II and III, UBS Jardim Imperial II, UBS Cohab São Gonçalo and dentistry at UBS Baú/Lixeira, as well as UPA Leblon. Each of these units has received renovations and improvements to provide greater comfort and state-of-the-art services to the residents.
Works completed or in progress
The Northern District has the UBS Ilza Picolli building, already completed and operational, as well as the UBS CPA IV and Dr. Fabio II/Omuwarama, which was under construction. In addition, UBS Ouro Fino was in the bidding process for its construction. Five units in this area have benefited from renovations and extensions, and another five have undergone renovations.
In the southern region, four new units have been built and completed, namely UBS Santa Terezinha/Itapajé, UBS Jockey Club, UBS Nico Baracat and UBS Parque Ohara. Eight units have undergone renovation and expansion, two of which are still under construction. Six units have undergone renovations, one of which is under construction, and three units are in the process of bidding for construction.
In the eastern region, three new units have been built: UPA Leblon, UBS Jardim Imperial II and the dental unit at UBS Baú / Lixeira. In addition, five units have undergone renovation and expansion, and two are in the bidding process for the same purpose. Twelve units have benefited from renovations, two of which are still under construction.
The western district was marked by two large buildings: the Cuiabá Municipal Hospital (HMC) and the UPA Verdão. Eight units have been renovated and extended, one of which is still in progress, and seven have benefited from renovations.
In the rural area, three of the six existing units have received interventions in their structures: UBS Rio dos Peixes, with renovation and expansion completed, UBS Coxipó do Ouro, with renovation and expansion started, and UBS Guia, with renovation work in progress.
The current municipal administration has also greatly expanded dental care in the capital. Since 2017, the government’s first year, 41 teams have been deployed and six more are already in operation despite not being officially delivered. When he took over the Cuiabá City Council in 2017, the administration found 10 teams in the municipal health department, and today the total number is 57. Cuiabá is today the city with the most dental specialty centers (CEO) in Mato Grosso.
With all these measures, the municipal administration has shown its commitment to improving the health units in Cuiabá, with the aim of providing quality care and better conditions for the population.
