Yesterday, PlayStation President Jim Ryan testified during the court case between Microsoft and the FTC, where he made some negative comments about Xbox Game Pass.
According to VGC, Ryan was questioned by Microsoft attorneys about a meeting that took place about a month after Microsoft announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, which the PlayStation boss reportedly said was motivated by Game Pass.
At this point, Jim Ryan revealed that when speaking to several publishers, they all expressed their displeasure with Game Pass, calling the streaming service “ruined”. Here is a transcript of the conversation between Ryan and the attorney:
“I’ve spoken to all the publishers and they unanimously don’t like Game Pass because it’s a value destroyer,” says Ryan.
“Was that true at that time?” the lawyer asked.
Ryan replied, “I think it was true.”
“You said you’ve spoken to all the publishers – right?” Microsoft attorney pressure.
Ryan replied, “I talk to publishers all the time, and that has been a very popular opinion for many years by publishers.”
Xbox Game Pass is a great asset to the Xbox ecosystem, attracting millions of gamers due to its catalog and pricing.
