New update for PlayStation 5 The main highlight is the addition of 1440p resolution support. After installation, users will be able to choose this as the default console option, if they have compatible monitors or TVs, while games with this native aspect will be played directly, without the need for additional configurations.
The change should also affect titles that play at higher resolutions. In these cases, the PS5 will apply automatic reduction that ensures smoother graphics edges and reduced aliasing due to the difference in the aspect of the screen. However, according to SonyGames running at 1440p resolution will not run at variable frame rates, a feature that is only available in 4K or 1080p options.
The PlayStation 5 update also brings changes to the user interface and better organization of the title library, allowing gamers to organize games into lists. There are a maximum of 15 such groups, each of which can contain a maximum of 100 games – only digital, disc or streaming titles can be included directly in this list. All features have been in testing phase since July.

New social features are also appearing in the PlayStation app, with a primary focus on user groups. Party participants will be able to request screenshots of titles their friends are playing, or send voice messages or stickers. After installing the update, it will also be possible to join contact matches directly for a remote session via mobile, as long as the updated console is at rest and connected to the Internet.
In the US and UK, a unique audio search option will also be offered on YouTube, allowing users to use the DualSense controller’s microphone to perform searches. According to Sony, the feature is still in the English-only testing phase, which explains why only the two regions have the novelty. At the moment, there is no news of this kind for Brazilian Portuguese speakers.
Speaking of the joystick, it also receives an update, but only for the sake of more stability and debugging of unreported errors during its operation. The PS5 also receives improvements in stability features and increased keyboard support when using Remote Play on PCs, allowing the format to be used in games that support it, while numeric keys won’t appear on the screen during use.
The update released on Wednesday (7) takes the PlayStation 5 to its version 22.02-06.00. The update is available to all global PlayStation 5 users and is mandatory to connect to PSN, play online games, and other connected tasks.
