“the The Strategic Council for Tourism Promotion (CEPT) discussed today, January 11, at the Ministry of the Economy and the Sea, the strategic priorities of the sector for the year 2023 that must be adopted in the promotion of Portugal and regional destinations, with the calculation, the promotion of regional brands, with total investments of 20.6 million euros for the year 2023 ” , said the Ministry of Economy and the Sea, in a statement issued today.
A priority for promoting tourism this year will be to focus on markets “that allow for greater value growth and less seasonality,” with “a particular focus on the UK, Spain, Germany and France markets.”
However, the commitment to encourage national tourism will also cover long-distance markets such as the USA, Canada and Brazil, given their “growth” and “economic growth perspective”.
The Ministry of Economy also offers, in parallel, “external promotion will encourage the commercial offer of differentiated products for the most demanding sectors, as in the case of literary tourism, contemporary art, architecture, surfing, gastronomy and wine tourism”.
“The increasing internationalization of tourism companies and brands, the growth of value, the growth at home, the growth in dual transformation, digital and climate, to which is added, the increase in qualifications. Without prejudice to the national vision, it is very important to give strength to the regions in promoting regional tourism, so that they can assert their specific regional tourism assets,” Minister of State for Tourism, Trade and Services Nuno Fazenda said in a statement.
CEPT is a government advisory structure for the promotion of foreign tourism and strategic coordination, consisting of representatives of Turismo de Portugal, the regional governments of Madeira and the Azores, the private sector, through the Tourism Confederation of Portugal, and the territorial entities in the regional tourism and tourism promotion agencies, referring to the government.
