The Health Promotion Management Unit (UGPS), through Epidemiological Surveillance (VE), has reported that Jundiai is recording seven cases of “monkeypox” in the municipality’s population. The result was received on Wednesday (10), sent by the Adolfo Lutz Institute.
The case concerned a 33-year-old woman, who had made a recent trip to a municipality in the interior of the state. Symptoms started on 7/26 and I sought health care on 08/03. He remains in isolation, with no hospitalization required and no secondary cases yet.
Follow-up will last for 21 days, referred to as the transition period or while the skin lesions remain.
UGPS indicates that monkeypox, also known as monkeypox, is spread when someone comes into close contact with an infected person. The virus can enter the body through skin lesions, through the respiratory tract, or through the eyes, nose, and mouth. Symptoms include rash, fever, headache, back or muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and fatigue. There is a vaccine for this disease, but it is not yet available in Brazil.
All health teams in the municipality were informed of the protocol for identifying and reporting suspected cases to follow up on the necessary epidemiological investigation procedures.
