– English Premier League (premierleague) December 20 2021
The latest round of the English Premier League was marked by the postponement of duels as a result of covid-19 in the UK. Athletes also tested positive for the coronavirus and defrauded their teams.
“The health and well-being of all involved remains our top priority, and the association will continue to monitor and reflect public health guidance, and will always act with caution,” the published memo reads.
In total, six initially planned matches did not take place: Aston Villa – Burnley, Manchester United vs Brighton, Southampton vs Brentford, Watford vs Crystal Palace, West Ham vs Norwich and Everton vs Leicester. In addition to the aforementioned clashes, four other matches in rounds 16 and 17 were postponed.
The Premier League also reported that “92% of players and club staff have received one, two or three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, with 84% of players on the vaccination schedule.”
“Players who have received one or two doses must wait the appropriate period before receiving a second vaccination or a booster vaccination. The League continues to work with clubs to encourage vaccination among players and staff as well as promote public health vaccination messages from the government to clubs and the general public.”
The English Premier League includes 20 matches scheduled until the end of 2021. The nineteenth round will include nine matches in the traditional league boxing day, on December 26, and another on the 27. The twentieth round, in turn, has duels scheduled for 28, 29 and 30.
