Portuguese company Powerdot will supply a total of 600 electric vehicle chargers to Biedronka, a supermarket company owned by Portuguese group Jerónimo Martins in Poland, over the next two years.
Powerdot said in a statement that each device, with a capacity of 120 kilowatts, will allow you to charge up to three electric and hybrid cars simultaneously, with a fast charge (20 to 30 minutes).
“The two companies expect to open the first stations in the coming weeks in Warsaw, 150 of which will be activated for public use later this year, and the remaining 450 will be deployed across the country throughout the year 2024,” says the same statement.
Powerdot says the project, which brings Portuguese know-how in the field to Poland, will result in a tripling – in a few months – of the country’s existing fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
The Portuguese company, founded by Luis Santiago Pinto and José Sacadora in 2018, currently has around 140 employees and, in addition to Portugal, operates in Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Poland.
To Expresso, José Sacadura indicated that by the end of the year Powerdot hopes to reach 180 workers. The company currently operates around 2,000 charging points for electric vehicles in the different markets in which it operates, including a thousand in Portugal.
The company’s international expansion began in 2020, entering France, followed by Spain.
In May 2022, the French fund Antin acquired a stake in Powerdot, injecting 150 million euros into the Portuguese company, which until then was controlled by the Portuguese company Arié Investimentos. The founding partners, José Sacadora and Luis Santiago Pinto, remained in the company, despite their minority stakes.
