The Municipal Health Service (SMS) recorded 4,885 confirmed cases of dengue in Porto Alegre. Data refer to September 2. Of these, 4,495 were contracted in the city, most of them in the Eastern Province. Four deaths from dengue fever have been confirmed this year so far, the same number recorded for all of 2022.
The total number of suspicious notifications from people residing in the city reached 7,661 notifications. The percentage of confirmed cases compared to reports is 63.7%. The balance indicates that 1,909 suspicions have been invalidated, 724 cases have a final classification of inconclusive, and 142 suspicions are under investigation. Last year, there were 5,087 confirmed cases in the capital.
The data are published in the weekly information bulletin of the Directorate of Health Surveillance (DVS) for epidemiological week 35 (SE 33 – 27/8 to 2/9). Patients’ reported history of symptoms is taken into account in the analysis. The information is contained in the Notified Disease Information System (SINAN) database.
Since the beginning of the year, according to bulletin data, 8,276 suspected cases of dengue fever have been reported, including 7,661 residents of the capital. Regarding the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the bulletin indicates a decrease in infestation in most of the 46 neighborhoods monitored with traps.
