Russian forces decided to release the mayor and leave the Ukrainian city of Slavutych after several protests. In return, the residents promised to hand over the weapons to the mayor.
Several hundred residents of Slavutych, northern Ukraine, marched to the main square to protest the Russian occupation of the city and the detention of the mayor. Russian soldiers fired bursts of machine guns into the air and threw stun grenades, but even then the population did not move. On the contrary, more people came to the field.

Since their intimidation maneuvers were unsuccessful and the square was still full, the soldiers decided to release Euro Fumichev by proposing a deal: if the residents would hand over their weapons to the mayor and let them search for their existence. Neither Ukrainian soldiers nor weapons, they will leave and there will be only a checkpoint on the outskirts of the city.
Before the residents and after the inspection, the Russians left the city of 25,000 people, which is located on the border of the Chernobyl power plant. The news was reported to the Guardian newspaper by the governor of the Kyiv region, Oleksandr Pavlyuk.
