PlayStation Studios is working on many games on the service, which are designed to attract huge crowds of gamers and last for years. According to Hermen Hulst, the diversity of scales and genres will be one of the focus points of this company’s efforts to expand its catalog.
The PlayStation Studios president spoke with GI.biz and talked about the motto driving the expansion of the company’s efforts in this area. Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to release 12 games on the service before April 2026, and not all games will be created equal.
“We know the competitive environment that exists, and the time invested by the players that the services represent. We want to deliver games of the highest quality,” Holst said.
“There is a danger when we talk about a ‘service game’ in broad terms, as if it is one genre, or even one business model. PlayStation Studios creates a wide variety of games that could be considered ‘services’, in different genres, schedules and release schedules.”
Hulst also confirms that they create games for different audiences and “I have faith in our proven track record of creating worlds and stories that PlayStation fans love.”
