Studio director and co-founder of Playground Games Gavin Rayburn has revealed that he is leaving the company.
It was first reported by Windows Central, where he revealed that after founding and working in Playground for 12 years, he will be retiring from the racing circuit. This news comes two months after the studio released its most successful title in Forza Horizon 5, which at the time of its release was also the biggest release of any Xbox Game Studios game ever.
“After 12 years working on five award-winning Forza Horizon games, Gavin Raeburn has left Playground Games as studio director,” said Turn 10 Studio Head and Forza Series President Alan Hartman. Windows Central. “A founding member of Playground Games, we thank Gav for his leadership and contributions to the Forza franchise and wish him all the best.”
Hartmann said Playground co-founder Trevor Williams will move from general manager to studio head immediately to replace Rayburn. He also said that the studio will continue to focus on Forza Horizon 5 updates and the ongoing development of the Fable reboot, which was officially announced in 2020.
As noted before Windows CentralRaeburn has a great history in the racing genre, having worked on the TOCA series for Codemasters, Dirt and Grid. He left Codemasters in 2009 to create Playground Games, which Microsoft acquired in 2018.
There is no word on Raeburn’s next step or whether he will stay in the games.
