The expedited disciplinary process, open to the events that occurred in the Desportivo de Chaves-Estoril match, in the 30th round of the Betclic League, will allow the expelled players to play in the next round.

The regulations stipulate that when there is a decision of the Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) – in this case, the establishment of urgent disciplinary measures – the temporary preventive suspension ends, meaning that players can act on their next trip.

With the disciplinary process open, targets can see the possibility of self-defence, meaning that there may be exclusion of wrongfulness (without guilt, and therefore without any punishment) or reduced guilt.

According to the document, the opening of this process is due to “the facts contained in the official reports of the match and the participation submitted by Estoril Praia Futebol Sad.” The disciplinary body added: “The process was sent, on April 24, 2024, to the Portuguese League Coaches Committee, with announcements excluded until the end of the instructions.”

In the match related to the 30th round of the league, played on Sunday in Chaves, the invasion of the field during the extra period led to disrespect and aggression between Flavian fans and Estoril players, leading to the sending off of goalkeeper Marcelo Carne and defender Pedro Alfaro.
