Concerned about the spread of dengue fever in Rio state, which could affect Petrópolis, as well as other diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, Councilor Gilda Beatriz (PSD) calls for intensification of mosquito control measures. Among the actions taken by the Chancellor, in addition to the request she made on social media, was submitting a statement to the Chamber requesting more commitment from the municipal government.
The council member points out that the Aedes aegypti mosquito is the vector that transmits dengue fever, Zika and chikungunya, and therefore its control must be intensified throughout the municipality. The consultant's request is due to the dengue fever epidemic in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Another matter of concern to the Council is the rise in temperatures, which accelerates the process of egg hatching and larval development due to continuous rains that form accumulations of water, creating a suitable scenario for the disease to occur. The advisor also pointed out the low rate of infection with the disease in the city, and to maintain this, according to her opinion, it is necessary to invest in prevention.
– With the potential increase in dengue cases, it is absolutely necessary to use “smoke trucks”, clean-up efforts, public awareness measures and intensify the removal of litter deposits that can accumulate water. Prevention is very important. We have also contacted the mayor to request action. The advisor highlighted
