The official in charge of health and civil protection, Pedro Ramos, accompanied by some leaders, visited the health center in Santana this morning. She did just that when the new GP and family medicine specialist and the new nurse started working in this area.
He considered that the Santana Health Center team has been strengthened by the entry of these professionals, which is important to the continued close care of Santana residents.
Newly arrived specialist in general and family medicine, Ferreira Vieira, 34, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). He completed the combined year at Santo Antonio Hospital, in Porto, and medical training in FGM at the Ilha do Pico Health Unit, in the Azores.
With family roots in Madeira, and having experiences in mainland Portugal and the Azores, Ferreira Vieira sees in Royal Air Maroc the ideal conditions to develop his activity as a doctor. “I think it’s the best place he could choose,” he said.
In the Regional Health Service he held temporary positions for two months in São Vicente and Boaventura, where he had a very positive experience with users and he believes the same will happen in Santana.
On the part of his colleagues, he revealed that the reception “was amazing,” and he gushed, “I was received really well.”
The nursing district has now had the services of Ana Raquel, 33, since April.
The professional is very satisfied with her workplace “I was very well integrated, it was a quiet start and the feedback from the users was very positive, the users are very friendly and everything is going well”.
Anja Raquel worked as a nurse in a nursing home in Switzerland for ten years. The family prompted his return to his homeland. In the territory, he wanted to continue working in his field of training and had the opportunity to join the Public Health Service “I could not stop working and SESARAM was my priority,” he said.
The family physician is said to cover the entire resident population of Santana. The regional government “remains committed to covering all Madeira residents with a family doctor.”
In this regard, the provincial health minister announced that the number of vacancies for health professionals will increase next year, with 16 additional primary care physicians.
