Next Sunday, don’t forget to come to Paderne Castle to watch the stars and immerse yourself in the fantasy of the enchanted Moors!
Paderne Castle, located in the interior of the Algarve, far from the city lights, has once again been chosen as the ideal location for “Astronomical Observation – Perseids 2024”. It is a unique experience that allows you, every August, to observe the Perseids meteor shower, along with the constellation Perseus – a phenomenon popularly known as the “Tears of Saint Lawrence” – which will take place this year next Sunday, August 11: from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.
The event, organised by the Municipality of Albufeira, through the Municipal Archaeological Museum, will see the presence of astronomer Ole Malle, a member of the European Southern Observatory (an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to the study of stars), who, with the help of a telescope, will guide visitors through the stars and the sky of Paderne.
In parallel with the astronomical observations, this year’s program includes a show by Associação Amarelarte, taking place at 9:30 p.m., at Ermida do Castelo. The show promises to take the audience on a magical journey through the myths and fantasies of the Algarve.
Remember that the day before, on August 10, the White Night takes place in Paderne, a symbol of friendship that Paderne knows as Aldeia Encantada, a program that includes live music, street entertainment, delicious foods, sweets and regional crafts, starting at 7 p.m.
On the starry night of the year, do not miss the opportunity to observe the beauty of meteors and immerse yourself in the fantasy of the enchanted Moroccans, at the Paderne Castle.
