Nicolas Otamendi was part of Benfica’s training this Tuesday, on the eve of the crucial match against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League group stage.
The Argentinian centre-back ended the derby with Sporting with some knee complaints, but it looks like the whole thing was intimidating and he should go into the Champions League final group stage match options.
Tomás Araújo and Paulo Bernardo also attended the working session in Seixal. The former is yet to make his debut with the main team, while Paulo Bernardo, who recently returned to competition with the B team after contracting covid-19, was already used twice by Jorge Jesus in 2021/22.
Radungic, Rodrigo Pinho and Lucas Verissimo (the last two with long breaks) were injured and were not in training, unlike Diogo Gonçalves, who was with the group.
Benfica is now third in Group E of the Champions League, one point behind Barcelona. To reach second place and secure a place in the round of 16 of the competition, the red team needs to do better than the Spaniards, who face away from already qualified Bayern Munich.
