FThe cremated remains of at least 90 people were found in the basement of a church in Ohio, United States. The discovery comes just months after a pastor was arrested at a place of worship on charges of “mishandling” of corpses, authorities were quoted by The Independent as saying.
Those remains were found last Wednesday, stored in boxes and suitcases inside Greater Faith Church in Akron. Each object, where the remains were found, is named after the person in question.
Many of the names, now revealed, were former residents of Toledo, a city in the US state of Ohio.
Shawnti Hardin, a church pastor, has been accused of running an illegal funeral business since at least 2019. The arrest came after two bodies were discovered inside the Harden Building used for temporary funeral services in Columbus, according to a statement from an Ohio attorney general.
