Wii Sports is one of the best-selling games of all time, so can a new entry in the series match the highs of its predecessor? We’re checking out Nintendo Switch Sports in this episode of New Gameplay Today and letting you know if it’s worth buying.
Join Alex Stadnik and Jay Guisao, game reviewers, as they take you on a tour of all the game modes fans old and new can expect when they take the title on April 29. First on the list is bowling. The classic is back on Switch Sports and feels better than ever with the most advanced motion controls on the Nintendo Switch. After taking a closer look at Stadnik’s skills on the slopes, we move on to tennis, and Jay tells you why his favorite game mode was in the original and why he’s still shining in 2022.
Next, we moved on to volleyball, which is one of Switch Sports’ latest additions to the series. It might seem a little confusing at first, but once you’ve mastered the different poses you need to hit, pin and lift, this obviously fits perfectly into every game you remember from playing the Wii. Sports with your family.
Moving on, we head to the badminton court, and Jay talks about why this mode has overtaken tennis as his new favorite game on Switch Sports. Instead of just waving the console thoughtlessly and playing the ball with their opponent, players will have to pay close attention to not only their movements, but what the competition is sending them. Different lines behind the shuttlecock indicate different speeds, and players may lose their invisible stamina bar and fall if the ball is too long.
Finally, we moved to the chambara and football room. The first is a very competitive game of hitting each other with swords until one falls into a puddle of humiliation (Nintendo, call me if you need to name anything) that will leave you both metaphorically and physically sweating. The latter is similar to the Rocket League, where players need to be aware of their stamina bars and the risks they face on the field if they are to emerge victorious.
