Given the current needs of pregnant women and health professionals, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Health, has updated the Handbook for Pregnant Women. Version 6 has some new features:
▶️ Ten steps to healthy eating during pregnancy;
▶️ Oral health guidance and prenatal dental consultation records.
▶ ️ Up-to-date information about labour, delivery and childbirth;
▶️ More emphasis on prenatal father/partner care;
▶️ Tech content updates and more recent infographics;
▶️ Updated weight gain monitoring curves for pregnant women;
▶ ️ Spaces to fill in data for retaken tests and vaccines.
The Director of the Department of Strategic Program Actions at the Primary Health Care Secretariat, Lana Lord, explains that the handbook is now more structured and meets longstanding demands of health workers working with pregnant women. “We’ve heard the old claims of health professionals asking for more space to fill it, a more comfortable place to include really important information and so that a pregnant woman can be followed in a safer and better way throughout the health care network.”
More than 3 million copies will be distributed to 26 states and the Federal District in 2022. The investment in this measure is about R$ 5.7 million. “It will show us many more measures to provide the best care that mothers deserve in Brazil,” said Minister of Primary Care at the Ministry of Health, Rafael Camara.
