This, after the authorities confirmed that during the operation to clear the rubble, more than 134 million kwanzas were officially found, which until now not one of the residents of Building “41” has claimed to be the owner of this money. The National Spokesman for Civil Protection and Fire Services, Felix Domingos, confirmed in a press conference, Sunday, that citizens who intend to claim the amount must do so in accordance with the provisions of the law, as several institutions operate in the building. .
On Monday the 27th, Novo Journal went to the former Macambera Warehouse area, where the ruins of Building 41, which collapsed on Saturday morning, now lie, and spoke to a number of citizens who confirmed they had seen people leaving the area. Places with bags and bags of money.
Some people who live and work nearby said that on Saturday afternoon, many people, especially garbage and iron collectors, found their bags and bags of money, which later caused floods and caused disrespect. A homeless youth who was spending the last night at the site said that he found a bag full of money, but when he tried to take it, he was attacked by other citizens who were also looking for it.
With visible signs of aggression, the citizen said the only reason he didn’t die was because people in the neighborhood who knew him saved him. “I even wrapped the bag in burnt clothes,” said the citizen, “but they saw me hiding! It was fortunate for me that I didn’t die.” And the security of one of the dwellings said that he saw people taking it, in addition to bags of money, gold, and air conditioners. “The only reason I didn’t go there was because my ‘boss’ wouldn’t allow it. I couldn’t leave the position either,” he said.
There are even reports that members of the National Police were involved in searching for valuables under the rubble. According to popular reports, after learning that the place was invaded by strange people looking for valuables and other things, the national police cordoned off the perimeter around 11:00 pm on Saturday, preventing unauthorized persons from entering. People say that hundreds of citizens from different neighborhoods in Luanda got up early on Sunday and flocked to the Macambera district to search the rubble, but the police presence prompted many to leave the place.
Novo Journal found on the site that the ruins are now under police siege and there is a large presence of Pakistani police personnel who control the perimeter. Building 41 located on Avenida Comandante Valódia, near Kinaxixi, in Luanda, collapsed early Saturday.
The authorities rule out the possibility of human casualties. Novo Journal has learned that vehicular traffic on Avenida Comandante Falodia returned to normal on Monday, the 27th, after a ban on Saturday and Sunday.
