The Mozambican Public Prosecutor’s Office also asked the court to order the defendants to pay compensation of 2.7 billion dollars (2.3 billion euros), equal to the total hidden debt, in addition to interests of 850.5 billion euros.
The loans were secured secretly by the government of the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo), led by Armando Guebuza, without the knowledge of Parliament and the Administrative Court.
