Russia today accused Ukraine of provocation during a rotation of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency to monitor the situation at the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhya, which is controlled by Russian forces.
“While passing by [da linha de frente]The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Ukrainian side tried to discredit the Russian Armed Forces, which guarantee the safety of rotation, by using means that simulated shell explosions on the road.
The Ministry of Defense posted a video on the Telegram application of the arrival of the experts, who were wearing blue bulletproof vests bearing the insignia of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He added, “The Russian Armed Forces ensured the safe rotation of the International Nuclear Organization’s monitoring mission at the Zaporizhya nuclear power plant.”
According to the ministry, a one-kilometer radius zone was created around the site of the front crossing, on the destroyed bridge near the city of Vasilievka, where a ceasefire was declared “with strict respect by the Russian army.”
He added: “Despite the provocation by the Ukrainians, the Russian army was able to ensure the safe passage of the monitors and their transfer to the nuclear plant.”
This rotation took place on the eve of the anniversary of the first visit by the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, to the nuclear plant and the start of the organization’s monitoring missions in this unit, the largest in Europe.
Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of attacking the nuclear plant, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned a few months ago about placing explosives on the roofs of two reactors, information that was not confirmed by International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors.
Key also accuses Russian forces of placing military equipment in the facilities, an allegation denied by Moscow, stressing that only military personnel dedicated to its security are present at the nuclear plant.
