Registration for the More Doctors Program will open from Friday (26th) with Priority for Brazilian professionals trained in the country. The Ministry of Health issued a public notice with 5,970 vacancies distributed over 1,994 municipalities in all regions of Brazil. Of these vacancies, 73 seats are allocated to Rondônia for the 39 municipalities of the state. Across the North region, there will be 1,471 vacancies.
The program, which aims to ensure medical care mainly in areas with gaps in care, provides professionals with qualification and improvement opportunities, as well as incentives and benefits to work in the most vulnerable areas.
In addition to Brazilian doctors registered in Brazil who will have priority in selection, Brazilians trained abroad or foreigners can also participate, who will continue to work with the Ministry of Health Registration (RMS) on vacancies not filled by doctors registered in the country. Registration remains open until May 31, and professionals are expected to start working in municipalities at the end of June.
For the Secretary of Primary Health Care, Nicio Fernández, the innovations introduced this year by Mais Médicos seek to attract and appreciate the professionals who participate in the programme, thus ensuring the care of populations and communities. “The new House of Medicine offers approximately 6,000 places in the program and for those who participate they have the opportunity to guarantee training in family and community medicine. Our goal is for professionals registered in Brazil to fill the vacancies that are offered and for this reason we have thought of several incentive strategies,” he confirms. .
In addition to the opportunity to qualify, all participants may receive incentives to remain in the program, and those who are allocated to areas of extreme poverty and vulnerability, as displayed by the Public Notice, receive a higher percentage.
Currently, more than 8,000 physicians work in the More Doctors Program, and now open public notice is restoring the vacancies in the past four years, plus an unprecedented 1,000 vacancies in the legal amazon area. About 45% of job vacancies are in areas with poor social and historically with difficulty in providing professionals. In 2023, 117 physicians are called to work in Indigenous Health Districts (DSEIS), including Yanomami territory which is experiencing a health emergency.
The federal government expects to reach the end of the year with 28,000 Mais Médicos specialists serving across the country, especially in areas of extreme poverty. With this, more than 96 million Brazilians will have Medicare guarantee in primary care, the gateway to SUS.
How to apply the allocation criteria in the municipalities
To register, professionals simply need to access the SGP between May 26th and May 31st, at the email address https://maismedicos.saude.gov.br. After verification of registration, from the 1st to the 5th of June, candidates will be able to select up to two preferred locations.
