Today, we have more evidence that this information is correct, such as Published Microsoft’s Windows Hardware Compatibility Program (WHCP) blog suggests just that.
Microsoft published this article in June with the title “Now accepting shipments of Windows 11, version 21H2”. Basically, it appears that the software giant has asked all of its partners to submit drivers compatible with the Windows 11 21H2 update by “September 24, 2021”.
Here’s what you can read in the Microsoft statement:
Partners looking to achieve compatibility with systems shipped with Windows 11 21H2 Release can install factory drivers for components that have achieved compatibility with Windows 10, version 2004 by September 24, 2021.
Windows 11 is scheduled to launch in October
As it stands, September 24, 2021 appears to be the deadline for providing Windows 11-compatible drivers to Microsoft partners. This means that Windows 11 could actually be released in October, or very close to that window.
When asked, Microsoft also clarified in the comments that this request for Windows hardware certification was in fact for Windows 11 21H1 and was not related to Windows 10 21H1.
