There are Windows 11 classics that Microsoft is trying to recapture and breathe new life into. These are functions that are changed and given new uses to help users. That’s what’s going to happen now with the Print Screen switch, which gets a big change.
Microsoft is looking into Windows 11 to improve the image capture process and tools. In addition to simplifying the process, it has changed existing tools to be more user friendly and more interesting.
One of the changes that is already being prepared is to change the function of the Print Screen key. Until now, it was trying to take a picture of whatever was on the screen, then forward it to the Windows 11 clipboard.
Pressing the Print Screen key will now open the Snipping Tool by default. This setting can be turned off in Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard. If you have already modified this setting yourself, your preferences will be preserved.
this will be soon changed, as now released in the latest Dev for Insider program. In this release, Microsoft has changed the Print Screen key so that it opens the Snipping Tool and thus gives users this ability.
Since this key can already be changed in previous versions of Windows 11, Microsoft decided to help users. Thus, users who have already changed this configuration will keep this option with the same value.
This new functionality of the Print Screen key is expected to be tested and evaluated in the coming months. By calling Windows 11 Snipping Tool, Microsoft is able to give greater visibility to its tool, which is more advanced and useful for all users.
Although it is a big change from Microsoft and it will change something old, the problems are not expected. The functionality that will be made available in Windows 11 gives users the same functionality, albeit in a more advanced tool and with many capabilities.
