Browser update Microsoft Edge Provides users with the possibility to experiment, through binghow does Copilot the company’s artificial intelligence virtual assistant for Windows 11 work.
The feature, called Actions, has Bing’s chatbot integrated into the company’s browser Microsoft Perform tasks in response to user commands.
Copilot is also in Windows 10
The novelty allows people with Windows 10 to experience the facilities that an AI assistant can offer.
The difference is that Copilot, which is only available for Windows 11, is able to perform actions in the operating system, while Bing “Actions” is limited to some tasks within the browser.
To request actions to be performed within Edge, simply open a Bing chat and type in the required command. The chatbot initially warns that it is “looking for the right action” and can then perform the requested task.
The possibilities are still very limited. In our testing, Edge Copilot was able to change tabs in portrait or landscape positions, open groups and switch to dark mode (which unlocked the theme settings).
However, the Actions didn’t clear cache or open a specific website in a new tab. Instead of performing the action, the chatbot provided answers on how to perform such operations.
For Microsoft, proposing to include some of Copilot’s features in Edge is a way to encourage more users to test their browser – as well as Bing – and who knows how to convince more people to upgrade their operating system to Windows 11, where Copilot will have all of its features.
Copilot features in Edge are gradually being rolled out to users as Microsoft update servers.
