Mercadona, which currently employs about 2,300 people in Portugal, distributed among supermarkets, offices and the logistics complex, will begin the process of recruiting about 65 people – “for all departments, on a part-time and ‘full-time’ basis” – for the new shop it intends to open next year in the municipality Sintra.

Also slated to open in 2022, Mercadona is currently recruiting in the cities of Guimarães, Braga, Beauvois de Varzim, Montego, Setúbal and Santarém.
With 28 stores in operation in the Portuguese territory, in the regions of Porto, Braga, Aveiro and Viana do Castelo, Mercadona will open its last store in 2021 on December 13 in Santa Maria da Vera.
Last year, which closed a total of 20 stores in Portugal, the Portuguese branch of Mercadona generated revenue of 186 million euros.
