nFor the past 38 years, McDonald’s Happy Meal menu has been sold in a red box with a large yellow smiley face. Now, the fast food giant has decided to remove the iconic smiley from the boxes. the goal? Teach your children that it’s okay to not be happy all the time.
Instead, the box will contain a sheet of stickers representing different moods, which little ones can use to express their feelings.
The red packaging will also contain a QR code to provide its younger customers with a range of resources related to emotional wellbeing.
This initiative comes in the United Kingdom, during Mental Health Week, after studies showed that nearly half of children feel pressure to always be happy.
Football legend Rio Ferdinand has joined the company to support the campaign, which runs until May 19.
