Matthew McConaughey, in an interview with LADbible, recounted what happened when he lost his hair dramatically in the late ’90s, after it “miraculously” grew in with the help of a magical product he’s been using for more than 20 years.
The 52-year-old actor revealed that a doctor used his case to flesh out his hair transplant, but the Hollywood star said he has never had such a procedure.
According to Page Six, McConaughey explained that he started shaving his hair many years ago because his scalp was getting weaker and weaker. However, the actor found a solution.
“How did he grow back? That’s a big mystery,” McConaughey said in the interview, explaining that he applies an ointment to his scalp once a day.
“I was totally committed” to solving this issue, the actor said. “All I can say is that he’s back,” he noted, noting that “he has more hair now than he did in 1999.”
The actor said that after a period of no hair, when he grew back in, people thought McConaughey had had a hair transplant. These rumors were spread by the surgeon who allegedly wanted to pay a lot of money for this cosmetic procedure.
McConaughey even met a doctor in Beverly Hills, who told him about the surgeon, who would have been famous for his mastery of this type of surgery, and who he said was responsible for the artist’s new look. To prove it a lie, the star asked a doctor to examine her hair to see that hair growth was normal.
After discovering the truth, Doctor tells McConaughey that he can’t wait to reveal the surgeon’s trick at the upcoming medical conference.
The actor and gym owner revealed that he has not stopped using the ointment, but also does not want to “risk” losing what he has earned again. “I wouldn’t give in to see if it was, ‘Should I do it more?'” I wouldn’t risk it,” McConaughey said.
