The municipality of Mação has submitted three applications within the scope of PT2020, which represent a total investment of around 837 thousand euros for the rehabilitation of the Mação Primary and Secondary School (headquarters of the school assembly), the Municipal Sports Pavilion José Maya Marquez and the Health Extension of Cardigos. The municipality is still waiting for a response, which was submitted at the end of April.
“There are good expectations that things are going well, and the budget review is going in that direction. I hope we can achieve the goals that we will propose,” said Vasco Estrela (PSD), explaining the negotiation and application process.
On the health side, everything is on the right track with the opinion of ARSLVT, but on the part of the Ministry of Education, the process did not go that fast. This was due to the discussion about whether or not the ward primarily serves a part of the education, since it is not within the vicinity of the primary school, Vasco Estrela assumed to mediotejo.net.
However, it is a wing that mostly receives the school community, and it was also built in the 1990s with the support of the Ministry of Education, and this is a reality that I would like to see recognized. It is clear that it is realistic that it serves other facts, associations and society in general, but this is happening with this wing and with the vast majority of other wings close to the schools, “he acknowledged.
For the mayor, this represents a “good opportunity” for the municipality to reclaim a building it owns and two state buildings – the School Cluster and the Cardigos Health Annex.
Although Cardigos’ health spans range from 14 to 15 years, according to the mayor, “it has major structural problems and in practice an extension of the health of the roots must be built.”
There was also some complication in the process related to the group of schools, and in this context an agreement was signed with the Ministry of Education. The mayor said, “The ministry realizes the importance of this rehabilitation, provides support, and there is an obligation to assist in co-financing the unfunded amount, so that we can rehabilitate the main school building.”
The municipality wants to “try to make use of community funds to solve these cases that must be resolved in the municipality.”
