The Mayor of Maceió, JHC, on Wednesday (4) accompanied the assistance provided by the Saúde da Gente program in the Grota Pau d’Arco, in Vitosa. Considered the largest ambulatory health program in Brazil, Saúde da Gente brings primary care services to many communities and neighborhoods in the capital. On this occasion, the JHC reports that the Maceio City Council has built a health model close to the population.
“These initiatives make the people of Maceió happy, and when we visit these areas, we have to be closer to the population and provide primary care coverage to those who need it most. We are the best primary care in the Northeast and second in the country, all because we are building a health care model soon.” From the population. We started with a multidisciplinary team, we come with health, but there is also social assistance. “We can bring Said Da Gente, but if the community does not open the door, we will not move forward. This is all a social pact,” said the mayor.
Saúde da Gente brings together 120 business fronts and has more than 400 professionals directly involved in the project, which specifically targets the neediest communities in Maceió, with priority given to primary care and medium complexity.
According to the Minister of Health, Celia Fernandez, the capital’s indicators have advanced thanks to improvements in the primary care service.
“We’ve only made improvements in primary care, because we come to the population and make a difference. That’s why our indicators are improving, and this program is here to stay,” the minister stressed.
Among the services provided to the community are vaccination, nutritional assessment, bandaging, Covid-19 testing, social worker and home physiotherapy, among others.
During the visit, the mayor visited the community and accompanied the vaccination in the homes of residents. Jan Ferreira is a community leader and spoke of his excitement at welcoming the mayor. One resident said, “We just have to thank City Hall, it’s just such a joy. I’ve lived here for 27 years and this is the first time I’ve seen a mayor come down here in the cave.”
