Lisbon was the second European city with the highest number of conferences, and globally, it ranked third, preceded only by Paris, with five conferences, and Singapore, which has only one event.
The data comes from the ICCA – International Convention and Convention Association ranking, referring to the year 2023, which takes into account conferences in destinations that demonstrate excellence in infrastructure, support services, accessibility and ability to host events on an international scale.
Last year, the Portuguese capital held 151 conferences, seven more than in 2022.
The ranking also shows that Vienna, which was in first place last year, has moved to fourth place, with 141 conferences.
“This ranking provides valuable information about emerging trends and the most sought-after destinations by conference organizers around the world, so we are very optimistic about demand this year. “Lisbon has a prime location, good accessibility and good infrastructure,” says Lisbon Tourism CEO, Paola Oliveira. As well as excellent quality professionals, we believe that we will continue to be a global reference for organizing association conferences.”
