On Wednesday, January 3, the Local Health Unit of Lezíria (ULS Lezíria) welcomed young doctors who will start their internship at the District Hospital of Santarem (HDS) and in the primary health care units that are part of the recently created ULS. In total, ULS Lezíria received 27 trainee doctors, of whom 15 were from general training, six from general medicine and family medicine, and six from specific training in the fields of general surgery (two), pediatrics (two), orthopedics (one), and gynecology. Speaking at the opening of the welcoming ceremony, Ana Infante, Chairman of the HDS Board of Directors, welcomed the trainee doctors who will join the ULS Lezíria team, after highlighting that the young doctors who have now been welcomed will “go down in the history” of the unit, as they are the first Inmates of the new building which went into effect on January 1st.
