Araxa monitoring estimates that more than 12,000 animals will be vaccinated with anti-rabies
Environmental observational biologist Fabricio Avila enhanced the timeline during the Imbiara Notícias programme
The urban rabies vaccination campaign begins on Monday (11) and continues until September 17.
Residents will have access to a walking schedule in different parts of the city during the morning and afternoon, as well as a fixed stop at the gym in the Santa Luzia neighborhood on Avenida João Paulo II, No. 1045.
In an interview with Radio Impera 91.5 FM, Fabricio de Avila, a biologist at Environmental Monitoring, spoke about the vaccination campaign in the municipality. “We have started the rabies vaccination today, Monday (4) and will continue it until Sunday (17) at ten sites in the city where our team will be and a fixed point in the Santa Luzia Gymnasium on Avenida João Paulo II from 8 am to 5 pm. All will be vaccinated. Animals over 3 months old as long as they do not suffer from a disease or comorbidity.

The biologist also said that residents should be careful about vaccinating their animals and commented on vaccination coverage in the rural area, saying: “We must pay attention to the deaths reported by the media. One positive case in São Paulo, and two deaths in northern Minas Gerais.” The best way to prevent it is vaccination. In recent weeks, we have traveled through the rural areas of Araxa and vaccinated about 4 thousand animals and we expect that more than 12 thousand animals can be vaccinated in the urban area.

about anger
Rabies is a disease that kills both animals and humans, and has no cure. The best method of prevention is a vaccine. The disease is transmitted mainly through bites as well as scratches, claws or licks from sick animals. Dogs and cats are vaccinated annually and it is of utmost importance so that the animal does not contract the disease.
