New Lancia Ypsilon spotted without filters ahead of official launch.
The official presentation of the new Ypsilon is scheduled only for next February – in Milan – through the exclusive Lancia Ypsilon Cassina Limited Edition, available with an electric motor, and in only 1,906 units, numbered and certified. But Lancia has already started the communication campaign, and precisely during the recording of one of the promotional videos, the first images of the new Italian city car in its final version were captured, confirming the design strongly inspired by the Pu+Ra. The new Ypsilon, the first of three cars the Italian brand will introduce in the near future (Gamma in 2026, Delta in 2028), uses the e-CMP2 platform from the 2008 Peugeot and Jeep Avenger, among many other things, incorporating the same electro-mechanics we know. From the Peugeot E-208 or the Opel Corsa E, to name a few. This assumes it will deliver 115 kW/156 hp and will use a 54 kWh battery, which will provide a range of around 400 km.
Although there is no certainty about the technical specifications of the new Lancia, there is no doubt about the creative appeal of the reinvented Epsilon. Starting with the front of the car, which features a redesign of the historic grille, which is now projected into the future by three beams of light, which perfectly embrace the Lancia logo, the latest image reveals the rear of the car, with the iconic logo. Round LED headlights, a clear reference to the unforgettable Lancia Stratos, a legendary model in the world of rallying. The two headlights now feature a new design element, the letter Y, an extreme symbolic combination placed horizontally within circles, reflecting the new design language, “pure and radical,” says Luca Napolitano.
Before, the Italian brand lifted the veil on the interior decoration, very inspired by the world of furniture, thanks to the collaboration with the Italian brand Cassina, world leader in this sector, embodied, for example, in the first “Tavolino” on-board car. “Users feel at home wherever they are.” The Ypsilon covers will, for the most part, be recycled or upcycled, and the circle-shaped design prevails in many appointments and locations, including the SALA infotainment system for the first time.
In Italian and Portuguese, “SALA” translates to living room, and here it is short for Sound Air Light Augmentation, a technology that represents the decisive criteria for creating a comfortable driving experience, in the most exemplary Lancia style. SALA works on a fully customizable widget-based system. It comes standard with two high-definition displays, with the home page serving as a central control panel for sound, air and lighting, a configuration that allows the car's atmosphere to be easily customized.
