Former Representative Roberto Jefferson, an ally of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, resisted an arrest warrant on Sunday and shot two federal police officers in the city of Comendador Levy Gasparian, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Eight hours later, he turned himself in to the police.
The former deputy himself recorded and posted videos saying that the police tried to arrest him, but he did not surrender, and he shot the agents. According to Globo’s G1 website, Jefferson threw three grenades at police.
