Agents of the Endemic Disease Control Section of the Municipal Health Department carried out joint work to combat dengue fever on Wednesday, the fifth of this month, even in the rain. The measures taken by the city of Itabuna against the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which include its “suppression”, have reached Pedro Geronimo, have already passed through more than 15 neighborhoods and will take place next week in María Pinheiro.
The coordinator of the Department of Endemic Disease Control, Lucimar Ribeiro, confirmed that the joint efforts to combat Aedes aegypti larvae are well received by residents of neighborhoods and local communities. “People are cooperating with endemic disease control agents, including getting rid of abandoned objects and furniture and reporting places where water accumulates,” he said.
According to information from the Department of Endemic Disease Control, Itapuna remains at 1.5%, according to the Aedes aegypti Rapid Index Survey (LIRAa/LIA) and has shown a decline in notifications of dengue cases. “This is the result of daily actions and constant educational work,” Lucimar said.
In addition to the joint efforts, supported by the General Cleaning Department of the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Urbanism (SIURB) and Biosanear, Endemic Disease Control Agents (ACE) are carrying out focal and peripheral actions to eradicate larvae during home visits and environmental education measures.
