Belgium, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Russia. These are some of the countries covered by the white blanket of snow in Europe. In southern Austria, the accumulated snow reached a height of 10 to 20 centimeters, which caused landslides that led to the fall of some trees and disrupted the electricity supply to at least ten thousand homes.
After record high temperatures this winter, the cold arrives in Europe, with blizzards that bring beauty and the possibility of winter sports, where they are traditional, but also the problems that come with them.
Temperatures in several cities reached zero degrees Celsius, which is the freezing point. The start of the unusually mild season allowed some relief in terms of gas reserves, but now that the cold weather has returned, the real test for nine European energy supply grids will begin, given the disruption of Russian gas supplies, related to the invasion from Ukraine to Moscow.
