In the twenty-first century, humanity will know prosperity only if it takes into account the factors that the productive sector and governments neglected until recently. Building a more inclusive and sustainable world depends on the ability of companies to apply principles of environmental, social and corporate governance. These factors are part of the so-called ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance Agenda) and have been widely discussed in the corporate environment.
Recognizing this global trend, Brazilian Post This Wednesday (23/3), 11:30 a.m., ESG Webinar: A Revolution in Business and Society. The event will be broadcast live on Correiobraziliense.com.br/eventoscb.
Participating in the live show is Nelmara Arbex, ESG Leader at KPMG. With 20 years of international experience, the CEO holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Marburg, Germany and a postgraduate degree in Business and Sustainability from the University of Cambridge, UK.
moral ambition
Arbex advocates that Brazilian companies have the ambition to contribute to the country’s business transformation, increasingly in line with the contemporary development model, based on a commitment to environmental, social and governance practices.
The specialist notes that “Environmental, social and ethical issues are present in all businesses and in all sectors. Decisions regarding them affect the whole of society, not only in the present but also in the future.” For her, the productive sector cannot do without a broader vision that includes, among other things, sustainability and social work. “These decisions determine the future we will live in. Talking about it and understanding how to incorporate these aspects into our daily decisions is key. This topic should become something that is discussed and considered by all leaders throughout the community,” assessed Arbex.
ESG is a circular economy and low carbon model; economic and social inclusion; regeneration of ecosystems; Transparency and innovation. This transformation necessarily involves implementing strategies and practices associated with aspects of ESG in a structured and sometimes innovative manner. Hence the importance of governance compatible with the needs of the modern world.
The webinar with KPMG expert will also feature Carlos Alexandre de Sousa, Policy and Economics Editor at Brazilian Post. The event will be broadcast on the newspaper’s social media.
