A whistleblower this week leaked a list on Weibo of the Apple mobile phones that should be compatible and will receive iOS 17. The system update will be officially announced at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

The published image mentions all the latest Apple models, which were expected, but some older and still very popular models, such as the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, were excluded.
The new list starts with the iPhone XR and XS, moves on to the SE models and reaches the latest launched model, the iPhone 14.
While this is a leaked and unofficial list, it is based on Apple’s update policy, which generally provides updates to its phones for about 5 years. So it makes sense that the iPhone 8 series is not included this time around.

So far, it’s all guesswork. Insiders have reported that iOS 17 will mainly focus on providing greater stability and efficiency.
This is due to the fact that Apple should remain focused on developing its first virtual reality headset, which may be announced later this year with a new operating system.

Among the possible functions of iOS 17 are the permission to download apps from sources outside the App Store, in accordance with EU law; new notch screen features, which are expected to be used on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro; and improvements to security and system performance.
