In the country, these companies attracted 1.3 billion US dollars last year
Brazilian agribusiness startups received nearly $1.3 billion in 2021 in investments. The value places the country associated with the United Kingdom, fifth and sixth, among the markets that have received the most resources for the sector, in the ranking presented by AgFunder, a global venture capital firm specializing in this field.
Ahead of the two countries, only Germany ($3 billion), India ($4 billion), China ($7.3 billion) and the United States ($21 billion).
According to AgFunder, last year, venture capital investors poured nearly $52 billion into agri-food technologies in 2021 across the planet. Namely: Brazil attracted about 2.5% of all global investment in this sector last year.
According to the latest survey by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), there are already 1,700 agribusiness startups in Brazil. The result appears on Radar AgTech, which identifies innovative companies in this sector across the country.
In 2018, just over R$500 million was invested in agricultural technology in the country, according to Embrapa. The amount for 2022 is already close to R$ 2 billion. Thus, the value nearly doubled in that period.
São Paulo is the state with the most startup companies of agribusinesses in Brazil: approximately 800. In the entire national territory, there are no companies of this type except in Alagoas.
