The Evandro Chagas National Institute of Pathology (INI/Fiocruz) is promoting the virus Eleventh International Workshop: Molecular Methodologies for the Epidemiology and Diagnosis of Invasive Fungal Infections, Intended for professionals and students in the field of mycology. Classes will be held in two phases: remotely, from September 20 to 22, and face-to-face, from September 25 to 29, always from 8 am to 6 pm, in the INI/Fiocruz Teaching Suite, located on the Fiocruz Campus, Rio. Jan de Janeiro (RJ).
Submissions are open until September 16, 2023. Interested parties should send a CV in latte art to the email address: [email protected]. The basic enrollment requirements are: enrollment in a graduate program at Kipps University and/or work in the field of medical mycology.
The course is coordinated by INI researcher Luciana Trelles. and researcher from the Dutch Westerdijk Funga BioDiversity Institute, Wieland-Meyer. The classes aim to show participants how to develop a reflective process in diagnosis and research. knowledge enhancement in the face of technological innovations; and awakening critical thinking.
Content will cover topics such as historical revision of in vitro diagnosis of IFI, traditional methodologies and new approaches, virulence factors, molecular methodologies, and an introduction to whole genome sequencing.
The total workload is 20 hours of theoretical course (on site), 20 hours of practical course (on site), and 14 hours of distance learning. The methodology includes lectures, face-to-face practical lessons, guided study, questioning, and case studies.
Students will be assessed through participation, repetition and performance in practical classes and activities report.
