Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull, Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, Nicole Scherzinger, Sting and Queen + Adam Lambert (nearly the last two) will perform in the Azores, at the crater of the natural lake Sete Cidades, on the island of São Miguel, in a non-profit concert In favor of preserving nature. Organizer, musician, producer and one of the world’s most famous guitarists, Portuguese Nuno Bettencourt (from Band Xtreme) spoke to DN on the phone, from the Azores, and explained that more than just a concert, Atlantis Earth Concert wants to be an annual platform to showcase greener solutions With planet earth in mind. It also ensured that all carbon emissions generated by the festival would be accounted for, reduced and eliminated. In addition to music, on both days it will be possible to learn about the work of various preservation organizations from all over the world. He also tells how he lost some friends in recent years in organizing the festival.
This festival is an idea that is more than ten years old. Why are you doing it now, at this moment?
It’s not entirely my choice for it to happen at this point. We are living through years of an epidemic that has hampered the investigation. However, we started preparing things a few months after the micron peak. It wasn’t ideal because we had very little prep time, but we really moved forward when support and artists were available. We could have waited another year, but for the planet, every year counts, in fact, every day counts. It is always difficult to do something like this, whenever something is organized for a good purpose in favor of nature, it is always difficult. If we were going to have some kind of Alive festival here in São Miguel with thousands of people, it would have been easier, we would have promoted the festival, we would have had money for everything and no one would complain about it being a ‘green’ concert… after I put the word ‘Terra’ In the name of the festival, problems began to appear.
