Miss Portugal on Sousa Tavares’ comment: “I absorbed what I had to absorb”

Marina Machetti, who represented Portugal in the Miss Universe International contest, finally spoke out about the comments made by Miguel Souza Tavares and José Alberto Carvalho on TVI’s “Jornal Nacional” program, in mid-October.
“I was disappointed above all because I expected more, but I think it is a positive step to show the work that still needs to be done from now on,” she said on Tuesday, November 28, on the Julia Pinheiro program at SIC. She adds: “I was disappointed by the comments of these two media men.”

Marina Machetti, a flight attendant for five years, asserts that the profession has been a “transformative experience” that makes her aware of how transgender people are treated around the world. The 28-year-old also revealed that because of her gender identity, she had to overcome “many obstacles.”
“Fortunately, especially within my family, love has proven to be stronger than ignorance,” he explained in a video on the Miss Drag Portugal YouTube channel. In addition to fighting for the rights of trans people, she is passionate about “animals and their protection.”
