At Thursday’s 20th meeting of the joint working group dealing with SMS and mental health in the Petrobras system, the managers of Transpetro, TBG and PBio presented the main measures that have been developed in relation to occupational health. Like the holding company, the subsidiaries are reviewing various measures, including networks of periodic testing, which have been significantly curtailed in the Bolsonaro government.
Company representatives have informed that they are following the new guidelines already implemented by Petrobrás, resuming health and dental check-ups that have been suspended and expanding the concept of prevention to include the scope of mental health and well-being of male and female workers.
Another point discussed in the meeting was the vaccination program and the prevention of epidemic diseases, which was developed by the affiliated companies and in which FUP and its unions demanded that it be also extended to the outworkers. TBG is, at the moment, the only company in the system whose vaccination program is only aimed at its employees. Union representatives have called for this practice to be reviewed as soon as possible so that all workers covered by the subsidiary can get vaccinated, regardless of whether they are self-employed or outsourced.
The FUP again demanded more detailed information on epidemiological data from Transpetro workers, whose WG representative undertook to provide the latest analyzes performed. In addition, the Federation’s Director of Health, Safety and Environment, Raimondo Telles, has been invited to participate in the upcoming meeting of the subsidiary’s Health Committee, an internal forum that discusses occupational health programs and procedures.
It was also planned to present Petrobras’ new safety policy, but due to the extent of other topics that were covered, this agenda was moved to the next meeting of the working group, scheduled for 27/07.
“The return of dialogue with the trade union movement was fundamental to making Petrobras and its subsidiaries advance the occupational health agenda, restructuring dismantled programs and expanding prevention and mental health treatment measures, providing reception channels for suffering comrades. We hope that commitment to the welfare of workers will also be the main component of the safety and environmental policy, which we will discuss next week,” Raimondo emphasized.
