Reservations canceled at Hotel Taipas, Guimarães. The property was purchased in February at an auction.
Bought by Somirav two months ago, the Centenary Hotel in Taipas, better known as Hotel das Termas, closed and canceled reservations made. According to JN, the hotel closed about 15 days ago. From that time the staff started calling people who had a reservation the next few times, to cancel the reservation. Those receiving these calls were told the hotel would be closing, although no reasons were given.
The building was purchased at an auction in February by the company for the sale and lease of cranes and lifting platforms, from the neighboring parish of Santo Estevão de Preteros, Somrav, for 1.75 million euros. The auction value was 1.65 million euros. In the first bid, in which no interested parties appeared, the basic value of the auction was about three million euros.
Hotel das Termas, opened in 1918, was built to support thermal activity and has lost its importance since the 1970s, when this activity ceased. The hotel has 68 rooms: 63 doubles and five suites.
