“Antonio Horta Osorio will join the board of directors of José de Mello, the controlling company of the José de Mello Group, and will begin non-executive functions from 1 September,” the statement read.
Horta Osório currently performs in Portugal non-executive positions on the boards of directors of Bial, Impresa and Fundação Champalimaud.
The director is also a “senior advisor” to the Italian group Mediobanca and a non-executive director of the Dutch company Stichtin / Enabel INPAR.
He began his career at Citibank Portugal, in 1987, having later joined Goldman Sachs, beginning in 1993 to head several financial institutions in Portugal, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, including Santander, Lloyds and Credit Suisse.
Jose de Mello’s Chairman, Vasco de Mello, quoted in the statement, said that “Due to his career and international experience, Horta Osorio will make an important contribution to achieving the ‘strategic vision and growth ambition for the coming years’ for the group.”

With this change, José de Mello’s board of directors now has the following composition: Vasco de Mello (Chairman), Pedro de Mello and Salvador de Mello (Vice-Chairs), Antonio Orta Osorio, Gonzalo de Mello, Isabel Junet, Joao Azevedo Coutinho, Joao de Mello , Luis Brito de Joyce, Maria Amelia de Mello Blake, Pablo Forero, Pedro Rocha e Mello, Raul Galampa de Oliveira and Rui Deniz.
The Executive Committee of José de Mello is composed as follows: Salvador de Mello (Chairman), João Azevedo Coutinho, João de Mello, Luis Brito de Gois, Pedro Rocha e Mello and Rui Dínez.
