uA high-speed train from the company Ouigo, which was on the Barcelona-Madrid road, collided with a wild boar that swept the tracks, in the province of Lleida, Friday evening.
The train, which was carrying about 900 passengers, ended up arriving at its destination after more than four and a half hours.
Sources from Ouigo and railway operator Adif told Efe that the collision with the animal occurred after leaving the Lleida station, partially damaging the transport’s braking system, and it was later towed to Zaragoza.
Once in the Aragonese capital, the passengers were transferred to another train that left Madrid to pick them up.
Ouigo also said that this was not the first time that a collision with an animal had forced a high-speed train to stop and that “according to the company’s compensation policy”, “all affected passengers will receive 100% of the value of a ticket.”
